Ever heard of the 'screen inferiority effect'?

Scientists claim that you spend more time on the paper version and that you understand and retain the text content more easily. There are a number of explanations for this screen inferiority effect, which, by the way, only occurs when reading non-fiction texts and when reading under time pressure. First and foremost, the inferiority of screen reading apparently results from the fact that we proceed more superficially when reading digital texts, establish supposed coherences more quickly and are too sure too soon that we have understood the content. We read less carefully. All this describes a reading mode that reading research calls "shallow" or flat reading.

Nerds only order pizza - or #Veganuary?

The online food ordering market is growing by a whopping ten per cent. The driving force is surely the many clickworkers who now slob around in their jogging clothes in the home office and don't want to shop or cook.

IT nerds have always been considered pizza monsters. But that's just a nasty stereotype. Because now it's #Veganuary. Eat more vegan - or vegetarian - food in January. And be impressed by the gastronomic diversity of the surrounding restaurants and street kitchens.

Must know for everyone who orders: only order directly from the restaurateur and pick up the food. Orders and deliveries via Lieferando & Co. eat up the entire profit of the restaurateur (30%) - this doesn't help them, on the contrary!

The next attack is bound to come

Targeted hacker attacks are the order of the day: Microsoft recently announced that its own source code (!) had been hacked. Total disaster!

In Germany, an entire newspaper group was recently paralysed by a hacker attack - the newspapers could only appear as emergency editions.

In addition, a shipping company had to let all cruise ships drop anchor - due to a hacker attack, nothing worked on board.

IT security - in particular: Sensitivity of employees as "human entry gates, e.g. in the case of macro-attempted e-mail attachments! - is therefore a top issue in 2021!

In Germany, the so-called electronic health record started on 1 January - as the latest digitalisation project. Data security plays a very important role in this.

10 years of social media revolution - and too many are still offline

Sometimes I ask myself: Why are some people so slow, so without ideas, so offline?

After ten years of media crisis through social media - it all started with the first iPhone - most media consumption has shifted to the social web.

Latest milestone. Cristiano Ronaldo now has over 250 million followers on Instagram - an absolute world record. This shows: Direct communication via one's own social channels has long since overtaken established media channels and their editorial teams. But so what?
